A Food Blog Logo Competition
When you get the opportunity to create a logo for a popular food blog, you jump at it. At least, that's what I did when Georgie of My Eclectic Bites reached out in need of a bit of rebranding. The project was framed as a competition, with a tight deadline and minimal information provided – but that's just the type of challenge that gets me excited.
So, I took the project on.
I dove into research, pouring over Georgie's blog and social media feeds, trying to figure out the best solution for her wide variety of needs. After gathering as much information as I could, I realized that I'd need to create a design that reflected the variety of cuisine that Georgie works with. I decided to keep things fairly simple since her social media feeds, in particular, are so full of color. Ultimately the final result was a single color logo that could be applied in black, white, or vibrant orange. Within two days I submitted my designs and waited to hear back.
You never know how these quick-turn competitions are going to turn out. So imagine my glee when I was selected as the winner!
After my selection, Georgie and I started communicating more in-depth, which led to a few branding adjustments. I was very thankful for this part of the process, as I never feel fully satisfied walking away from a project before I see how it does or doesn't work in real-life applications. (I'm very hands-on in this regard, and always happy to make minor adjustments if it will enable a better end result.) Thankfully, things went swimmingly and a few days later I received a message with an image of the logo carved into a cutting board that she uses for photoshoots!
Looks delicious, right? I can't wait to see how else she uses the logo. It's always exciting to see how your work grows after your part in the project is complete.
